What is the Sacrament of Confirmation?
Receive the Holy Spirit
In Confirmation, Christians receive the power of the Holy Spirit and deepening of their commitment to Christ in building the kingdom of God on earth.
To celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, a person:
– has reached the age of discretion, which is defined as about the age of seven;
– professes the Catholic faith and desire to receive the sacrament;
– is living their life as a witness to Jesus Christ.
By receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Christian’s relationship with God is made stronger. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are strengthened: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. In this way the Christian is equipped to become a better witness to Christ in the world.
In Confirmation, the Christian becomes more closely united with Christ. With the strengthening of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is able to accept greater responsibilities for witnessing Jesus to the world.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Our Sacramental Preparation program is currently open to 7th and 8th grade students. The Sacrament of Confirmation preparation begins in October and concludes with the celebration of Confirmation in January with Bishop John Noonan on January 8th @4PM.
To prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, students are to be enrolled Sacramental Preparation program. Meeting dates will the first and third Wednesdays of the month in the Parish Community Center from 5-6:30PM. The session dates are as follows: October 6th and 20th, November 3rd and 17th, December 1st and 15th. Dinner will be served at each session!
